Installation

Through the years we have adjusted the way we build our cabinets in order to help us during installation. For example most factory cabinets will not have much scribe, if any on the back or sides for the installer to level the cabinets. We add plenty of extra scribe to our cabinets so they will sit truly level after scribing. Scribing cabinets is our preferred method but shims are sometimes needed if we know there are extreme leveling issues. Separate bases can also help achieve a level cabinet without any shims. Quarter round trim can be used to cover gaps while also adding a pleasant look to your kitchen.

Cleaning and Maintaining

Cabinets are commonly used pieces around the home. Therefore, they have a habit of collecting gunk and grime. This can be cleaned with a slightly damp rag or non-harsh chemicals. Be sure to read bottles of cleaning products to be sure they are wood safe. Lots of cabinets are placed around areas that have water being splashed about. Standing water on a wood finish over a long period of time can cause it to bubble up or even peel off. A simple dry rag to wipe off the moisture will solve the problem before it starts. Keep cabinets dry and in general at a humidity between 35% 55 %. A humidity level too high will cause the wood to swell and a humidity level too low will cause it to shrink. Summer time generally being more humid and winter being drier. Small amounts of wood movement is normal but by cleaning and keeping a general humidity level you can increase the life of your cabinets appearance over time.
